How you can speak to 100 potential customers with CLINQ

It makes no difference if you are a startup or an established corporation: the same rules apply. Whether to gather feedback or to acquire your first customer, you want to speak with as many contacts of your target audience as possible during the first few weeks and months of a product launch.

In this article we'll show you how CLINQ can help you speak with your first 100 potential customers.

It often requires a lot of effort to speak with strangers about your own product. Even so, we all know that it's valuable and effective to have these conversations.

One of the communication channels that these conversations can take place has been and continues to be on the telephone. You can actively call potential customers, regardless of being in the office or on the go, and receive valuable information and feedback. This can likely only be topped by a face-to-face conversation.

CLINQ can help you to set up this channel of communication and use it as effectively as possible.

1) Differentiate between possible target audiences

It es especially important at the beginning of marketing a product to not address a target audience of "everyone". Starting off with a niche audience and expanding to a wider audience is often much more effective. This way you've gathered enough research and can optimise your acquisition strategy accordingly.

Define for instance four specific segments of your target audience. Should your target audience be medical practices your four segments could be:

  • Dental practices
  • Orthodontal practices
  • Cardiology practices
  • General practitioner practices

You can set up an individual channel for each specific segment in CLINQ. Each channel will be assigned an individual telephone number which will allow you to differentiate between phone calls for each segment of your target audience.

This way you'll be able to better analyse your results in the end. The channel name will immediately inform you in which segment of the target audience the caller is.

Create a channel like this:

  1. Click on the plus icon (+) next to the heading "channels".
  2. Enter the desired name of the channel in the field
  3. Click enter

2) Find contacts

Whoever has used this or a similar process before knows that it's a good idea to prepare contacts you want to call in an easy to follow list. This also goes for searching for new contacts and addresses. Looking for new addresses online between calls often costs a lot of time, resulting in procrastinating the next call by reasoning, "Yeah, well, that doesn't really fit. I'll just look for another new contact".

That's why searching for new contacts and addresses is directly integrated in CLINQ. Using the omnibar (that's what we call the search bar on the top right side of CLINQ) will not only turn up results of contacts in your CRM but also Google Maps results.

The omnibar search result will always be what you would receive as the top result in Google Maps. This way there are no more excuses - just click and call!

Use the omnibar in CLINQ like this:

  1. Click on the omnibar (the search field on the top right)
  2. Enter your search criteria
  3. Select the result under "search results from Google"
  4. Click on the green telephone -> good luck!

3) Make calls

Whoever just wants to get started often asks themselves the same questions: Should I make calls with my own private number? Should I get myself a deskphone with an office number? And: Will customers calling back be able to reach me?

CLINQ is the answer to all of those questions: As mentioned earlier, every channel is assigned an individual telephone number. Simply select the channel from which you'd like to make calls from and click, as described above, on the omnibar and make calls. An additional advantage: You no longer need a desk telephone or additional software. You can make calls directly from your browser.

The person you're calling will see the number of the channel you've called from as the caller ID. There are two possible scenarios should you not have reached them and they try to call back.

You still have CLINQ open in your browser
In this case you can simply answer the call as usual.

You've closed or logged out of CLINQ
In this case you can forward all of your incoming calls to another telephone number, including your smartphone. The caller won't know the difference.

Activate call forwarding like this:

  • On the far left side, click on Settings (the tool icon).
  • Under settings, select Call forwarding.
  • Toggle right so that the toggle turns green.
  • Here a new field will open. Enter the phone number to which your calls should be forwarded.

4) Add and maintain contacts

Usually the first call with a potential customer isn't the call where you'll have a detailed interview or sell your new product. It's just the start of a customer relationship.

CLINQ gives you everything you need to document and build your customer relationships. You can maintain the corresponding customer contact information and add notes. This way you are always informed when you make the next call.

You can integrate your CRM in just a few clicks. The customer details that you maintain in CLINQ will automatically sync to your CRM in the background.

Maintain contacts like this:

  1. Click on "New contact" underneath the telephone number on the right column.
  2. A new pop up will appear, add customer details on the left.
  3. On the right side of the pop up you can add and search for notes.
  4. Click on the green "Save" button.

5) Evaluate results

You're definitely one large step further once you've spoken to 100 potential customers in your target audience. You know what about your product your customers are interested in, you've received feedback, and you might already have your first customers in the pipeline.

To even better evaluate your results, you can download your CLINQ call data as a CSV file. You can use tools like Excel, Google-Spreadsheet, or other table calculation tools to see how the specific segments of your target audience reacted to your new product.

You can answer the following questions for each group:

  • What time was I best able to reach which group?
  • Which group called back when I wasn't able to reach them?
  • When did I get the most returned calls?
  • How long did I speak with each group on average?

These are only a few of many possible questions you can answer with your call data.
